About

The Alternate History Library (AHL) is a compendium of original works in the genre of alternate history, which seeks to answer the question, 'what if a certain historical event went differently?', with some of the most famous examples being 'what if the American Revolutionary War failed?' and 'what if the Nazis effectively ended opposition to their rule in Europe?' The style of an alternate history story can be like any other novel, but on AHL, most of the counterfactual historical narratives will be presented in the form of nonfiction.

Inspiration for the works on AHL include For Want of a Nail: If Burgoyne Had Won at Saratoga by business historian Robert Sobel, and the litany of stories from the Alternate History.com community, which often take great pains to present engaging and plausible stories. Some of the best of the works created there have been published and are currently available for purchase at Sea Lion Press, such as Jon Kacer's Festung Europa: The Anglo-American Nazi War, which depicts the horrors of a much longer Nazi occupation of Europe following the collapse of the Soviet forces in the Eastern Front, and its eventual war with the combined might of the Commonwealth of Nations and the United States of America.
